The weather today will be mostly cloudy. A chance of snow this morning. Little or no snow accumulation. Much cooler, with highs in the mid 30s. Northwest winds of around 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph. The chance of snow is 50%.

As of March 11, Maryland Department of Natural Resources crews stocked 6,690 trout. In Garrett County, golden and rainbow trout were stocked at Herrington Lake and along the North Branch Potomac River in Kitzmiller.

During the March Board meeting, new curricula for Elementary English Language Arts and Grades 6–8 Science were approved following a public review period from February 11 to March 4, 2026. The programs will be implemented district-wide beginning in the 2026–27 school year. During the same meeting, Mrs. Dawna Ashby was named the next Chief Academic Officer for Garrett County Public Schools, effective July 1, 2026. She currently serves as Director of Early Childhood and Elementary Education and will succeed Dr. Nicole Miller.
