Maryland Fall Foliage Report October 1: A chaotic mix of spring freezes, prolonged summer drought, and storm winds has severely stressed Maryland’s trees and stripped early foliage. Because warming climate trends and higher overnight temperatures delay dormant cues, this year’s fall colors are expected to be later, shorter, and far less vibrant.
