Wednesday, July 5, 2023: The first work day after a holiday is rough, amiright?! We went to the lake last night and caught the fireworks… a beautiful display as always! This is my niece, Allison, last night!

The weather today will be mostly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon—highs in the upper 70s and a low of 63. Northwest winds of around 5 mph. The chance of rain is 20%.

Garrett College’s summer session saw a 17.4% surge in credit-hour enrollment, going from 436 hours in 2022 to 512 in 2023. The number of students also increased by 10.7%, with 124 enrolled this summer compared to 112 last year.

The Youghiogheny Chapter of Trout Unlimited has created a scholarship at Garrett College to commemorate Don Cosden, a dedicated biologist who worked for 43 years at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Service.

The Deep Creek Lake Lions Club’s blind camping program, taking place from July 24 to July 27, will offer a NEW equestrian activity for visually impaired campers.
