Deep Creek Daily Notes Blog August 8

Tuesday August 8, 2023: Did you receive any severe weather yesterday? I was driving right into the path when I received the Tornado Warning so I turned around and, luckily, missed most of the storm.

The weather today will be mostly cloudy with isolated showers in the morning, then mostly sunny in the afternoon. Breezy, with highs in the lower 70s. West winds of around 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. The chance of rain is 20%.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has implemented effective regulatory packages following scoping and proposal processes. Visit the “Changes to Fishing Regulations” page for details on the department’s regulatory procedure and to explore ongoing considerations.

To be eligible, attend a 30-minute educational session on rain barrel installation, maintenance, and their positive impact on the environment and local watersheds. In-person sessions are available today at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, along with a virtual option from August 8 to 18, accessible at your convenience.

The Garrett County Board of Education will have its regular monthly meeting at Southern Garrett High School, where members of the public are welcome to attend. Moreover, for broader accessibility, the meeting will be broadcast via live stream.

18 Strings proudly hails from culturally vibrant Appalachia. Their music reflects mountain stories with an organic blend of voices, guitar, mandolin, and upright bass. Catch them live tonight at Honi-Honi Bar, echoing the region’s musical heritage.
