After purchasing the property in June 2023, the new ownership group based out of Pittsburgh, with ties to owning their own Deep Creek Lake homes and vacation rentals, wanted to create a whole new lodging experience at the historic location on the prime corner of Route 219, Garrett Highway, and Glendale Road. Previously known through the decades as Alpine Village and then the Inn at Deep Creek, the new owners rebranded as Cove Creek Lodge to give a new identity and include features of its location and natural aesthetic in the name. Within 9 months, the property was fully renovated, furnished, and customized to provide lodging and a new on-site bar to kick off the summer season. Owner Mark Hondru shared his excitement for this upcoming first anniversary. “This was a passion project for us all, and we enjoyed taking on this renovation at a Deep Creek landmark property to keep the structure and enhance it to be modern-day rustic but upscale lodging and additional amenities. Coming to Deep Creek from Pittsburgh for most of my life and investing in the lake lifestyle is important for my family, and we are so excited to celebrate this success.”
Partnering with Railey Vacations, Deep Creek Lake’s premier vacation rental home and property management company, this new hotel was added to their portfolio of over 570 vacation rental homes and two other lakefront hotels they manage.
