Contractor Open House and Info Session Planned at Deep Creek Lake, MD

Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS), in partnership with BFM Architects (BFM) and Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. (Shockey), is thrilled to announce the upcoming Contractor Open House and Information Sessions for the Southern Garrett Elementary School Renovation and Addition Construction Project.

The project scope includes a complete renovation and additions to the existing Southern Garrett Middle School, converting it into the new “Southern Garrett Elementary School,” requiring all the typical school renovation and construction trades.

The Contractor Open House and Information Sessions will take place on January 12, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on January 15, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the existing Southern Garrett Middle School, located at 605 Harvey Winters Drive, Oakland, Maryland.

Maryland licensed trade contractors are encouraged to attend the information sessions to learn about the project and its requirements. GCPS (owner), BFM (architect), and Shockey (construction manager) will present progress drawings for review and lead site walks with a time for Q&A.

January 12th will focus primarily on project site work, abatement, selective demolition, foundations, and flatwork, structure (including steel and masonry), roofing, and related trades. January 15th will focus primarily on the project’s interior construction, including drywall systems, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, millwork and carpentry, painting, flooring, and other interior trades.

Interested parties can attend one or both sessions; the project team encourages participation by the contracting community.

For further information and to be added to the project SmartBid list, please get in touch with Sarah Day, Estimating Administrative Assistant, Shockey, at 540-723-4161 or sday@howardshockey.com.
