Celebrate National Library Week at The Ruth Enlow Library April 6–12, 2025

What draws people to our library? Everything! From books and digital resources to job assistance and creative programming, we are essential to thriving communities.

National Library Week, April 6–12, 2025, is a time to celebrate the many ways our library brings people together, sparks imagination, and supports lifelong learning.

The Ruth Enlow Library of Garrett County invites the community to join the celebration! Whether you’re a longtime patron or haven’t visited in a while, now is the perfect time to explore all that our library has to offer. We provide more than just books! From free Wi-Fi and legal assistance to STEAM Kids and Lego Clubs, we ensure that everyone has access to resources that educate, inspire, and connect.

Whatever draws you in, our library has something for everyone. Whether you’re preparing for a career change, launching a business, raising a family, or embracing retirement, we are here to support your journey. Libraries serve as hubs for learning, creativity, and connection, helping people of all ages explore new ideas and opportunities.

Join us for some very special National Library Week events. We’re kicking National Library Week off with a family magic show at each of our locations. Get ready for an unforgettable experience with Tyler Reed, The Family Magician! His high-energy, interactive show blends hilarious comedy, jaw-dropping illusions, and nonstop audience participation, making it the perfect entertainment for all ages.

We’ll also be hosting an exciting concert by “The Snaggy Mountain Slackards” at our Main Library (Oakland). This fiddle and guitar duo, comprised of Linda and Earl Eisenhart, perform an energizing mix of Classic Country, Americana and traditional music the whole family can enjoy. Formerly members of the “Smooth Valley Rollers” and “Old-Time Wasters,” Garrett County traditional string bands, Linda and Earl play throughout Western Maryland and surrounding states.
