Appointment of Dr. Nicole Miller

Ms. Barbara Baker, Superintendent of Schools, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Nicole Miller to the position of Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Miller will begin her new position on July 1, 2021.
Dr. Miller holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Mansfield University, a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from George Mason University, and an Education Specialist Certification and Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.
In addition to her education, Dr. Miller brings a tremendous amount of experience to her new position. For the past school year, Dr. Miller was the Director of Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She also served as the principal at Southern Garrett High School from 2018-20 and as principal at Grantsville Elementary School from 2012-2018. While serving as principal at Grantsville, Dr. Miller was instrumental in the development of the RTI (Response to Intervention) plan for the school system. In addition, she has served on the Professional Development Committee, the Judy Center Steering Committee, and the Fine Arts Advisory Committee.
Before coming to Garrett County Public Schools, she held the role of an Assistant Principal for four years at Buckingham County High School in Buckingham, Virginia, and was a band and chorus teacher for four years at Orange County Public Schools in Orange, Virginia.
Superintendent Baker stated, “I would like to congratulate Dr. Miller on her appointment as Chief Academic Officer. She has a wide variety of classroom and administrative experience at all levels during her career, which will be invaluable to her work with the children of Garrett County. Her breadth of work throughout the entire school system will be instrumental in our recovery efforts.”
