A fireworks safety news conference has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 10:00 AM to provide the media and community with accurate information regarding fireworks laws and use – including Ground-based Sparkling Devices – applicable to all Maryland jurisdictions.
The conference will feature Brian S. Geraci, State Fire Marshal, along with invited speakers from:
- Maryland Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons
- Johns Hopkins Children’s Center Injury Prevention Specialist
- MedStar Health: The Curtis National Hand Center
- Howard County Department of Fire & Rescue Services
There will also be a safety briefing and demonstration of legal and illegal explosive devices by the Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Bomb Squad. All participants will be available for group or individual interviews after the demonstrations.
