Allegany County Public Health Notice: Raw Sewage Found in Braddock Run and Georges Creek

As a result of the recent flooding, raw sewage is flowing into the following waterways. Do not drink, fish, or come into direct contact with those waters until further notice. Contaminants from raw sewage can cause severe illness

Braddock Run:  Raw sewage is flowing into Braddock Run downstream from Upper LaVale, which then flows into Wills Creek and downstream to the Potomac River. The affected portion of the Potomac River is specifically the waters downstream from Wills Creek.

Georges Creek: Raw sewage is flowing into Georges Creek between the Town of Shaft and the Westernport Wastewater Treatment Plant, which then flows into the Potomac River..

Please note that Garrett County is not impacted by this notice—we are upstream from the affected waterways.
