Accident Elementary School's Outdoor Learning Space Fosters Hands-On Education and Community Support at Deep Creek Lake, MD

Accident Elementary School’s Schoolyard Initiative is designed to create an outdoor learning space to foster a healthy school community and to educate students in an authentic hands-on learning environment. A number of local businesses, community members, and families have supported AES’s Outdoor Learning Space.

Students from Crellin Elementary School visited the Husky Pup Schoolyard on Friday, May 26th. Crellin students Sammy German and Molly Hayhurst shared their experiences raising sheep at Crellin’s Sunshine Farm. Mrs. Brittany German, a teacher at Crellin Elementary, provided information on other projects at Crellin’s school farm. Thanks to their generosity, Accident Elementary was able to adopt a lamb.

Art in the Schoolyard will be held on Friday, June 9. Proceeds from the silent auction will go to the schoolyard initiative.
