The 2023 Autumn Glory Royalty has been selected for the 56th Annual Autumn Glory Festival. This year’s King is Isaac Browning and the Queen is Sophia Rankin. Team One GMC is the title sponsor of the 56th Annual Autumn Glory Festival.
Isaac Browning has had the blessing of being raised in Garrett County, a place he really loves. Isaac is involved in quite a few extracurricular activities. He is on Southern High’s golf team, participates in Mock Trial, is a member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), as well as a member of the National Honors Society. Isaac has held leadership roles in his school as junior class treasurer and treasurer of FBLA. He is also involved with his community. Isaac is a youth member of the Source Collaborative Council at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He has volunteered at Kitzmiller Lion’s Club and has helped with the renovation of the Crellin School playground as a part of his carpentry class. After high school, Isaac plans on going to college to pursue a degree in Finance and Accounting.
Sophia Rankin was born and raised in Garrett County and is dedicated to volunteering in her community. She is involved with Rotary Interact Club and is the team captain of both a Relay for Life team and the Northern Garrett Unified Bocce team. She holds the office of secretary for Garrett County’s Association of Student Councils, an officer of the Northern Garrett Class of 2024, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Sophia is also a senior member of Garrett County’s FRC Robotics team, GACO, where she enjoys teaching STEM lessons to every 3rd, 4th, and 5th, grader in the county. She is passionate about education and plans to earn a degree in early education, so she can become a teacher in Garrett County.
The Autumn Glory King & Queen will preside over the Autumn Glory Kick-Off Reception & Dinner to be held on Wednesday, October 11, and they will be featured in the Autumn Glory Grand Feature Parade, presented by the Town of Oakland and the Greater Oakland Business Association, on Saturday, October 14. Besides having the honor of representing their home county during the Autumn Glory Festival and at other events, the Royalty will receive a monetary contribution towards future educational attainment endeavors.
