The Garrett Community Concert Band presents "A Festival of Carols." This holiday concert will be held on Sunday, December 3rd at 3pm.  The performance will be held in the Offutt Theatre at Garrett College's Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available at The Gallery Shop in Oakland (10am to 5pm Wednesday thru' Saturday), online at www.GarrettArts.org and at the door.  The price is $10 for adults and $5 for students.  Children 5 and under are admitted free of charge.

Packet Pick-Up & Pre-Registration Friday, February 23, 2024 • 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM Come to the registration tent in the Honi Honi parking lot to sign your waiver, pick up your official Dunk sweatshirt and dunk zone wristband avoid the lines, and be ready to enjoy the day on Saturday! Join the community for a fun night on March 20, 2024, from 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM for the kids and an educational night for parents at the Grantsville Elementary PTO. The Garrett County Health Department and the Town of Grantsville are bringing the community the educational tools and resources needed to aid in drug and alcohol prevention in our community! The Judy Center and Grantsville PTO will provide fun activities, including an Easter egg hunt, among other things. The GCHD will also provide pizza! The Garrett County Health Department has scheduled a tobacco treatment class to begin on April 3rd. The class is one hour long from 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM and consists of a series of four in-person group sessions, one each week, and then two follow-up phone sessions for a total of six weeks. These sessions will help you learn how to change your habits. Participants receive many resources, including a class notebook, group support from others who are also trying to quit, and free cessation aids in the form of nicotine patches, gum, lozenge, or the prescription drugs Zyban or Chantix. “The class is free for you and designed to help you stop using all types of tobacco, including cigarettes, smokeless, and electronic smoking devices,” said Chelsie Dever, Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist at the Garrett County Health Department. “The support received from the other participants in the group who are also attempting to quit using tobacco really helps participants to stay focused on their goal.” To register for the class, go to KickingTobacco.com. The Garrett County Steps to Better Health Committee announced that the 2024 Family Fun Festival and Health Fair will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024. The event will take place from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Community Aquatic & Recreation Complex (CARC) at Garrett College in McHenry. The Garrett County Family Fun Festival will be held in conjunction with the Health Fair to celebrate the “Week of the Young Child,” which is from April 6 to April 12 this year. “Week of a Young Child” is recognized across the country to celebrate the importance of early childhood development. The Family Fun Festival promotes positive early childhood learning experiences and recognizes that these experiences are essential in laying the foundation for success in academics and throughout life. The Family Fun Festival and Health Fair is a free community event designed to promote positive experiences in early childhood development and to promote overall health awareness for all ages. This meeting will discuss the process for applying for a septic permit and what is required when submitting the application. It will include the requirements for an adequate site plan for an on-site sewage disposal system. This will cover septic systems with conventional drain-fields only, with and without pumps.
