The Garrett County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. The Board will meet in the cafeteria of Grantsville Elementary School. The meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed for public review.
The Board of Education will meet in public session at 2:45 PM for the Clerk of the Circuit Court to conduct the oath of office for newly elected Board members. The Board will elect the president and vice president, then will go into executive session from 3:00 PM until 4:45 PM. The Board of Education will reconvene for a public session from 6:15 PM – 8:45 PM. Time is set aside during the public session for the hearing of constituents at approximately 7:00 p.m. Please note this time is approximate, and public comment may be adjusted based on the timing of the presentations.
- Topics excluded from Public Comment include:
- Individual personnel issues
- Comments identifying individual students or staff members
- Matters that are on appeal or may be appealed
- Topics for which the Board schedules formal public hearings
- Advertising or solicitation for products and/or services
UPDATE: A Blueprint for Maryland’s Future (BMF) Information Session will be conducted during the Public Session portion of the meeting. Details of BMF as it pertains to Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS), along with a progress update, will be shared. Pillar leads will take a closer look at Pillar I: Early Childhood Education and Pillar V: Governance and Accountability. Additionally, the communications plan for BMF will be shared.
