The weather for today will be cloudy with a chance of rain and maybe some snow. Little to no accumulation. Highs in the low 40s this morning but falling into the 30s this afternoon; winds can gust to 35mph.

Speaking of the weather, AccuWeather yesterday issued a forecast for cold weather that could possibly disrupt travel to the Midwest and Northeast around Thanksgiving. Still early, but if you are traveling you may want to check it out and track developments.

Edna Forsyth will be teaching a Beginners Knitting class at the Oakland branch of the Ruth Enlow Library today from 3:30pm until 7:00pm. The class is free to all and supplies will be provided. Contact Susanne Kight at 301.334.3996 x0105 or skight@relib.net for more information and to register.

There is also an Icon Painting Workshop tonight (and for the next 3 Thursdays). Learn to paint icons the way they were painted years ago using egg tempera made of eggs and powdered pigment. The Garrett County Concert Band is presenting “A Christmas Flourish” on Sunday, December 3 at 2:30pm in the Garrett College Auditorium. Band members range in age from 11 to 80 years old and come from four states!  It is sure to be a great show.

Significant project improvements along the Western Maryland Rail Trail will force temporary closures (with detours) along sections of the trail between Nov. 27, 2017 and Jan. 27, 2018. This two-phase project will clean ditch lines and replace damaged guardrails and fencing along the trail.

Epilepsy is a disease that can impact anyone here in Garrett County. With November being National Epilepsy Awareness month, I thought I would post this link to the “Take a Shot” at Epilepsy campaign that is in progress.

There is a 50/50-Bowling Gift Certificate Raffle going on at The Alley for the Sisler Family (who recently lost their home in house fire). The drawing will be November 22 at 5pm and tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Stop in at The Alley to buy a ticket.

The deadline for MEDA’s “Marketing Propels Community Progress” award submissions is December 8th.
