A new Flying Squirrel Canopy Tour is now open at Wisp. This is the first challenge course canopy
tour of it's kind in the Deep Creek area offering amazing tree-top
views, agility challenges and 5 breathtaking zips from 180 ft to over
400 ft!
Excavation is underway to reinforce the retaining
wall at the Lakeside Creamery parking lot.
Crews are busy remodeling the Alpine Village Inn
which will reopen as the Inn at Deep Creek.
Demolition continues on the The Point View Inn. No word on the future plans for the property,
although it is on the
market for sale.
Construction continues on the $3 million,
30,000 square foot exhibit hall at the Garrett County fairgrounds.
Construction has begun on a new transportation
museum along Liberty Street in Oakland. The project is headed by
the Garrett County Historical Society.
Still awaiting the start of construction on the new Garrett College Community Athletic & Recreation Center (CARC).
Phase I -- a 32,000 square foot
aquatic center -- is expected to be complete by fall of 2011.
Dairy Queen Grill and Chill restaurant is
now open along Rt.
219 in Oakland.
Excavation continues at the site of a new Clear Mountain Bank next to
the Dairy Queen Grill and Chill. An access road is also being
constructed on this property that will connect Rt. 219 and North Fourth
Street. The road will also provided easier access to the
commercial sites. The location previously housed the Garrett
County Roads Department before they relocated to a new building on Rt.
135.
Deep Creek
Fitness is now open in the Market Square Plaza next to Foodland.
The grill hut at the
Boardwalk is now open and catered by Jearbryo's restaurant.
Sorellee's
has added new full-service bar in their restaurant.
Decorator's Nook opened a new
store Eco Chic. The designers look for
things in the strangest places, our homes, basements, attics, Goodwill,
Christian Crossings, Nearly New, Garage Sales and take these items,
thoroughly clean them up, then
REMIX, REUSE, REFRESH AND
RECYCLE!!!
The Oakland Indoor Flea Market at Grand Central
Station is full with over 45 vendors ranging from professional flea
marketers, local residents yard sale items, artisans, and crafters. The
market is open Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday 8 – 6 and Sunday 10-5
all summer.
